In late 2552, he received an encrypted message from Admiral Roland Freemont, ordering him to reassign Spartan-II Team Black to Operation: BLOWBACK, a covert mission to Sub-sector 35 in order to gather intelligence and sabotage Covenant vessels.^[1]
