The Covenant Air Artillery was a Covenant unit cut from Halo Wars.[1] It was to be a weapons platform armed with three plasma mortars (also the main armament of the Wraith). As it had no onboard defenses, it could have been very vulnerable if dealt with promptly. However, its heavy plasma mortar cannons could lay waste to an entire UNSC base.[2]
[edit] Deleted material
Covenant air artillery is part of the deleted material cut from the Halo games.
When developing the Halo games, Bungie, Ensemble Studios, and 343 Industries have had to cut some content from the final games. As such, many aspects of the games, such as vehicles, gameplay, design, and story elements, were not included in the final versions. Many of these elements have been confirmed by such material as videos and commentary, interviews with developers, and released concept art.
[edit] Trivia
It was replaced in the game by the new Vampire due to the fact that the Locust replaced its role as an anti-building siege weapon. It was also the first known unit to be deleted from Halo Wars.
