The Covenant battleship is a heavy capital warship classification within the Covenant Navy.[2]

They are exceptional among Covenant vessels in that they possess a total of 12 energy projectors, making them one of the best-armed ships within the Covenant fleet. Their massive firepower allows them to decimate entire UNSC fleets from long range, and makes them ideal for defending key locations and ships.[2] Their hulls have been described as having five of the bulbous sections characteristic of Covenant vessels.[1]

There were several battleships present in the Fall of Reach.[3] In addition, there were multiple battleships in the fleet gathered to the Unyielding Hierophant.[1]

[edit] Notes

  1. ^ The Halo Encyclopedia lists the battleship as being 200 meters, or 656 feet, long. In Halo: First Strike, on page 297, it is said that "there were even bigger vessels with five bulbous sections that were two kilometers stem to stern and had a dozen deadly energy projectors." As no other known Covenant ship class possesses the highly unusual armament of twelve energy projectors, it can be assumed the ships near the Unyielding Hierophant are of the same class as battleships, and the "200 meters" figure is an error. This is reinforced by the fact energy projectors are only installed on the Covenant's largest ships according to page 147 of Halo: First Strike; with a length of 200 meters, the ship would be dwarfed by even the Covenant's smallest warships such as stealth corvettes.
